Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves placing thin needles along “meridians” in the body to influence Qi (pronounced “chi”) energy. Qi is the life force - or vital energy. It is believed that pain or illness develops when the flow of Qi is disrupted. The goal of acupuncture is to restore balance and help the body heal by re-establishing homeosta. The needles send signals to the spinal chord and the brainstem, decreasing pain response and increasing blood flow. Acupuncture is used to help with treating colics, laminitis, lameness, soreness and much more.
