Our Approach to Equine Care in Gordonsville, VA

At Keswick Equine Clinic, we support horses and their owners with emphasis and focus on preventive care, sports medicine, therapeutic care and reproduction.  As demonstrated for over 30 years, our mission is to provide current, reliable, around the clock diagnostics and treatments to enhance your horse's well being and performance.

Our 3 ambulatory veterinarian team is available 24/7 and is backed by a knowledgeable veteran office staff who can answer your routine questions and make appointments.

Meet Our Dedicated Team

Rosalba Giovannetti

Rosalba is our general manager. She was a criminal judge in Venezuela, and now works alongside her husband Dr. Gustavo at their animal hospital. She is also a successful baker in her own business, called “Taste Like Heaven.”

Maria Gracia Giovannetti

Maria is our social media manager. She is a senior at the University of South Florida studying Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in French. She is also Gustavo and Rosalba’s daughter.

Meet Dr. Rebecca Kramer

Senior Associate
Owner & Operator

Dr. Rebecca Kramer took over ownership of Keswick Equine Clinic in 2013.  She joined the team at Keswick Equine Clinic in November of 2005.  Rebecca received her DVM from Colorado State University in 2004 and completed an equine field service internship at Colorado State University.  She remained at CSU after her internship to perform clinical trials on equine vaccines. Dr. Kramer's clinical interests are broad and include sports medicine and theriogenology.

When not driving from farm to farm in central Virginia, Dr. Kramer can be found riding her gelding Percy out on the trails and in local jumper shows.  She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Labradors and exploring the "hills" of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Dr. Kramer is available for all Sports Medicine and Lameness exams, as well as wellness appointments and ambulatory medicine. She specializes in regenerative medicines and reproduction, such as ProStride, Shockwave, Embryo Transfers, Fresh/Frozen/Cooled semen insemination, and much more!

Dr. Kramer works closely with Dr. Tim Ober on many lameness cases and has established a great consulting relationship with his practice.

Meet Dr. Blythe Jones

DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Blythe Jones, joined KEC in June of 2020 and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. She grew up on a farm in southern Virginia where her love for animals began at a very young age. She started showing her off the track Thoroughbred in the hunter jumper divisions at the age of nine and has had an unwavering passion for horses ever since.

She obtained her undergraduate degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University majoring in both Animal and Poultry Science and Agriculture and Applied Economics. Dr. Jones graduated from Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. While in veterinary school, she was a 4 year member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners student chapter and was inducted into Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society her 3rd year.

Her professional interests are equine internal medicine and theriogenology (reproductive work). Dr. Jones completed an intensive internship with Tryon Equine Hospital in Tryon, NC. When not working, Dr. Jones enjoys riding and driving horses, traveling and outdoor sports with her husband, and hiking with their two dogs!

Meet Dr. Shelly McDaniel

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Shelly McDaniel joined KEC in May of 2022 and brings enthusiasm and a fresh new perspective to the practice. She is very excited to be back in Virginia’s beautiful horse country full time after spending many years working with KEC in a part time capacity. Dr. McDaniel grew up in Colorado where she fell in love with horses at a young age. When her childhood horse became injured, she was exposed to the complexity of veterinary medicine and immediately knew that veterinary medicine would not only become her career but her passion.

Dr. McDaniel attended Colorado State University for her undergraduate degree in Equine Science. She then went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University. While in veterinary school, she was an active member of AAEP (American Association of Equine Practitioners) and ACVIM (American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine). Dr. McDaniel has a strong interest in preventative care and internal medicine

When not working, Dr. McDaniel enjoys teaching young equestrians all about the joys of horsemanship and riding as well as reading, spending time with her dogs, Georgia, Peaches and Maple and of course her horses Flame and Ford.

Ada Patterson

Ada moved to Virginia from Maine in 1994 with her daughter Martha. She has been a Licensed Veterinary Technician since 1978, and joined Keswick Equine Clinic 22 years ago. Her role in the clinic has been all-encompassing since the beginning, wearing the hats of surgical assistant, radiology technician, lab tech, inventory manager, receptionist, and head of KEC’s frozen semen operation.
Ada will be retiring from the clinic in February 2022, and she will be greatly missed! Finding someone to fill these shoes will be near impossible.

Ellen Wrenn

Ellen moved from Richmond, VA to Orange County in 1989 where she managed Hare Forest Farm, a  Thoroughbred breeding and racing operation, for 25 years. Among the horses she cared for were Go For  Gin (1994 Kentucky Derby winner) and Love Match (2005 Taylor Made Matchmaker Stakes winner).  During this time, she competed her horse in both hunter and jumper divisions. In 2010 she started a  bookkeeping business handling horse farms, rental units, realtors and medical offices. Ellen began  working part-time for Keswick Equine in 2000 with various roles, became the bookkeeper along the way  and has recently taken over as the clinic manager. In her free time, she competed her dog Bella in agility,  dock diving and Fast CAT and they now compete in canine nose work and scent work.

Amanda Arnold

Originally from New Hampshire, Amanda attended and graduated from Averett University in Danville, Virginia with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and Equestrian Studies. She decided to stay in Virginia and moved up to Charlottesville after securing a job as Barn  Manager/Assistant Trainer at Thorsten Kramer Dressage. A year later, the opportunity to work part-time with Keswick Equine Clinic arose, and in July of 2021 Amanda became a full-time Vet Assistant for the clinic.
Amanda can be found out in the field with the Veterinarians performing radiographs, gastroscopies, prepping for joint injections, jogging and lunging for lameness exams, and much more! She also doubles as a lab tech, running bloodwork and plating cultures.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys going for trail rides with her OTTB Pete, her fiancé, and his trusty steed Boston. She also enjoys spending time reading, doing Yoga, and playing with her Orange Tabby Oliver.

Michelle Knight
Receptionist

Michelle was born and raised in Charlottesville, and now has two sons. She lives in Louisa County with one of her sons and they share a love for exotic animals. Michelle also shares her home with 3 rescued American Pit Bull Terriers, 3 snakes, 2 lizards, 2 guinea pigs, 2 tarantulas, and 3 fresh water aquariums. She completed construction on a 13,000 gallon outdoor Koi pond in 2021, as well.
Michelle’s passions in life include listening to a variety of music, cooking and enjoying a variety of cuisines, and watching True Crime television shows.
Michelle has an extensive history in small animal medicine, but recently made the transition to equine medicine when she joined Keswick Equine Clinic as a receptionist in May of 2021. She is likely the first friendly voice you hear when calling KEC, and handles many tasks, but most importantly; your horse’s Coggins Tests!
